Job Summary:
As a BMS/Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building management systems; preferably ABB/Cylon, Tridium and Priva amongst others. You will ensure that these systems operate efficiently, meeting environmental and safety standards while minimizing energy consumption and maximizing occupant comfort.
Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and commission building management systems and control devices such as sensors, actuators, controllers, and network components.

Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, calibration, and testing of BMS equipment and controls to ensure proper functionality and performance.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, upgrades, and system configurations. Document procedures and guidelines for future reference.

Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, including identifying and resolving issues related to hardware, software, wiring, and communication protocols.

Program and configure control systems and software to meet specific operational requirements, including setting up schedules, alarms, and sequences of operation.

Remotely monitor system performance and operations through the BMS interface, analysing data and trends to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.

Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and vendors to support projects, upgrades, and system integration initiatives requiring strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Credentials:
-
College diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in HVAC, controls systems, or related field is preferred.

Previous experience in building automation, controls systems, or HVAC maintenance is desirable. Familiarity with specific BMS platforms and software is a plus.

Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of control theory, PLC programming, networking, and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).

Ability to analyse system performance data, diagnose problems, and implement solutions effectively.

Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks, documenting procedures, and maintaining records.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and adapt to changing situations.
Physical Requirements:

The job requires physical exertion, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces and at heights. Candidates should be capable of performing these tasks safely and comfortably.
